A daughters' safe space. Offering virtual and in-person support groups for all motherless daughters.
FIirstly a warm welcome and love to you, for the reason you are visiting the support group page. My name is Jade. I lost my Mom in 2023 following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. I was just 27 years old when my mother passed away at 56 years of age.
Following the loss of my mother at a young age, I felt isolated, despite the support network around me due to knowing no-one in the same position as myself. I found it incredibly difficult navigating life without my Mum, as we were only just beginning to experience all of the things we had always dreamt of.
The premature death of my mother completely stripped me of my identity and everything that had been consistent in my life so far. Everything has changed since she has been gone, but I knew I wanted to create something to connect others experiencing this profound heartache.
So here it is. A support group for all online and in the South Wales region, to share the light of all daughters, and all their mothers too.
The aim of Daughters Light support group is to provide a compassionate, supportive community for women and their families who has lost their mothers. Offering a space space to share their grief, heal together and find strength in one another. We aim to raise awareness of this often- overlooked group and provide a platform for women to connect and reclaim strength in navigating life without a mother at a time when they least expected it. Through emotional support, shared experiences, and empowering resources, we aim to help women navigate their unique journey.
By coming together with others who share similar grief, members can feel a sense of belonging and solidarity. Connection reassures them that they are not alone in their experience and that others have face- and are facing- the same challenges.
Advocacy helps motherless daughters reclaim their voice and empower themselves. Many women who have lost their mothers may struggle with feelings of voicelessness or may have been overshadowed by the dominant narrative in grief. Advocacy ensures that each woman’s story is heard, validated and given weight. It encourages members to speak openly about their pain, healing journey, and needs.
Empathy allows group members to feel seen and understood in their grief. Motherless daughters often experience a unique and profound form of loss, and it can be isolation when others don’t truly understand the depth of that pain. When a group member shares her experience and others respond with empathy, it helps create a deep sense of connection.
